Supporting youth. Building connections. Meeting young people where they are.
Youth Outreach at BGC Greater Halifax provides flexible, relationship-based support for youth navigating complex challenges across the region. We work alongside young people to help them feel safe, supported, and connected to opportunities that strengthen wellbeing, independence, and community belonging.

What We Do
Our Youth Outreach program offers individualized support for youth and families through:
- Safe Drop-In Spaces: A welcoming place to hang out, connect with peers, and access support in a safer environment.
- Outreach Support: Youth Outreach Workers meet young people where they feel most comfortable — in community spaces, schools, homes, or neighbourhood settings.
- Crisis & Emergency Response: Immediate support when youth are experiencing heightened risk or urgent challenges.
- System Navigation: Help understanding and accessing services such as housing, education, employment, healthcare, and community programs.
- Referrals & Connections: Linking youth to resources, opportunities, and networks that support long-term success.
- Family Support: Sessions that strengthen relationships and provide guidance for families and caregivers.
Outreach Streams
We offer Outreach through three unique streams.
General
For youth ages 16–24 experiencing risk factors or barriers, whether or not they are connected to Child Welfare services.
Sexual Violence Prevention
For youth ages 12–24 who may be at risk of experiencing or causing sexual harm. Programming focuses on healthy relationships, consent, accountability, and safety.
Youth in Care
Referral-based support for youth ages 12–19 currently (or formerly) in the Minister’s Care (temporary or permanent).

You can opt in or out of programming, you can take a break, or possibly change Youth Outreach Workers or Service Providers. Your safety, feelings of safety, and well-being are important at all times.
Led by you. Your preferences will help decide which supports and services you receive. You are considered an expert in your own journey, that you are in the driver’s seat, and that Youth Outreach supports and services are tailored to meet your individual needs.
