Programs

After School Program (ASP)

The Spryfield site offers after school programs for children currently enrolled in grades Pre-Primary – 5. Children can participate in and experience a wide range of activities including recreation, physical activity, cooking, arts/crafts, reading, and leadership (“Torch” program). After school programs vary from site to site.

This site currently serves children attending, Central Spryfield, and *John W. MacLeod schools (* NOT TRANSPORTED BY THE CLUB. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to arrange for transportation to the applicable Club site for their child/ren)

Hours of operation; Dismissal – 6 pm

Cost; $220.00 per month/per child

Members must be a minimum of 4 yrs. of age by December 31st, in current term and enrolled in grade Pre Primary. 

In-service day camps, Christmas break Day camps, and *March Break day camp

The site Spryfield offers programming to registered members currently enrolled in grades Primary – 5 according to the Halifax Regional Centre For Education calendar (formerly HRSB). Registered members will participate in a variety of activities, based on a theme each in-service day.  

Hours of operation; 7:30 am – 5:30 pm (children must arrive by 9 am)

Cost; $35.00 per in-service day, per child

(*March break day camp is offered by the week only, cost $175.00 per child)

Note; this service is optional and not included in any other BGCGH program/fees. Participants do not have to be registered in any other BGCGH program or activity to register for this service. 

2025 Summer Day Camps

*Children 5-12 yrs.(*Children must be 5 yrs. of age by Dec 31, 2024)

BGCGH is dedicated to getting kids outdoors, learning new skills, and trying new things. Our Summer program consists of structured and unstructured activities with physical activity, crafts, games, day trips to local attractions, and team builders. We are committed to creating lifelong relationships among members and families. Summer Day Camp provide supervision and activities in a safe, supportive environment. Do you only need a week or a two of Day Camp? No problem! Parents have the convenience of registering by the week! Simply choose the week (s) you would like your child to attend!

COST – $185.00 per week/child

Hours of operation – 8 am – 5:30 pm (all sites)

JULY DAY CAMPS

  • Week 1 June 30 – July 4 (Closed July 1st) : BGC Bake Off – Ready, set, bake! Join the ultimate camp kitchen showdown and whip up tasty creations.
  • Week 2 July 7 – 11: Land of Loose Parts – Imagination goes wild in our giant tinkering zone full of parts to play, build, and invent.
  • Week 3 July 14- 18: Explorer’s Lab – Part lab, part adventure, this camp lets kids dive into hands-on science and engineering challenges inside the Club and out.
  • Week 4 July 21-25: Planes, Trains & Automobiles – Buckle up! Explore everything that zooms, whizzes, and flies with epic transportation fun.

AUGUST DAY CAMPS

  • Week 5 July 28- August 1: Camp 3, 2, 1…ACTION! – Get ready to shine! Big plays, epic stories, and spotlight moments await—bring your best for a week packed with action!
  • Week 6 August 5 – 8: Ready Player One! – Game on! From team challenges to epic board games, it’s non-stop action all week.
  • Week 7 August 11-15: Under the BGSea – Set sail for ocean adventure! With sea creatures, ocean games, outdoor exploration, and beachy crafts, it’s waves of fun.
  • Week 8 August 18-22: Summer Camp Mash-Up – Can’t pick a favorite? Enjoy a mash-up of the summer’s best games, activities and adventures.

Youth Programs

Raise the Grade (Spryfield site only)

Raise the Grade is an academic success and life after school skills program for youth in grades 7-12. Youth in this program will focus on achieving academic and personal goals, as well as have the opportunity to explore personal interest opportunities, with the support of staff and volunteer tutors and mentors. RTG aims to encourage youth and support families by giving them free access to tutoring, technology, and a supportive environment.
