BGC Greater Halifax offers After School programs for children currently enrolled in elementary school. Each week the children will have a variety of experiences in the gym, activity space and kitchen to explore a central theme. Activities will include cooking, arts/crafts, physical activity, reading, research and science. (Activities vary from site to site)

BGC of Greater Halifax offers programming to children according to;

Halifax Regional Centre For Education Calendar. Registered children will participate in a variety of activities, based on a theme each in-service day. The sites are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 pm based upon a mandatory pre-registration.

In-service day camps, Christmas break day camps, March break day camps are offered according to the Halifax Regional Centre For Education Calendar at the following sites;

Dartmouth North – 60 Farrell Street

East Dartmouth – 50 Caledonia Road

Sackville – 45 Connolly Road

Spryfield – 11 Aldergrove Drive

Children do not have to be registered in any other BGCGH program or activity to register for Halifax Regional Centre For Education  in-service day camps, Christmas break day camps, or March Break day camps (March break day camps are offered by the week only). Children must be 5 years of age by December 31st, of the current term and enrolled in grade Primary. The Club does not offer services to children enrolled in Pre-Primary Programs.

BGCGH provides breakfast and/or grab and go in the following schools;

• Shannon Park Elementary School

Kids skip breakfast at home for many reasons, but it is well known that children who arrive at school hungry, cannot learn to the best of their abilities. Breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day. The program provides an opportunity for students to get a nutritious start to their days so they are prepared to get the most out of school. Many students enjoy the social time of having breakfast with their friends. The free program is open to any student, check with the school office for location, start date, time and permission form. The breakfast program is made possible by the generous support of many community organizations and foundations. Donations are always welcome from parents. Income tax receipts are available for donations made out to the Boys & Girls Club of East Dartmouth. Volunteers are needed for all the programs. The time commitment is 1 hour in the morning before school anywhere from one day a week to once a month. Please contact the Nutrition Coordinator at breakfast.lead@bgcgh.ca
