BGC Club Day
June 5th, 2026, is BGC Club Day, BGC Canada’s national awareness day celebrating the life-changing impact of Clubs in communities across the country.
Here in Halifax, BGC Greater Halifax Clubs is proud to be part of that story. BGC Clubs across Canada serve more than 160,000 young people and their families each year. Of those, 1,000+ are supported right here at our four active sites in Sackville, Spryfield, Dartmouth North, and East Dartmouth.
BGC Greater Halifax Clubs (formerly the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax) provides a safe place for children and youth across the municipality. We feed kids and families, run job readiness programs, support mental health and physical activity, and create real impact in the neighbourhoods we serve. BGC Clubs have been changing lives for more than 125 years, and we see that impact every day at our Clubs.
BGC Club Impact
This year’s BGC Member Survey gathered responses from 154 of our young people across all four sites. Because of their time at the Club:
- 91% are more physically active
- 88% are more excited to try new things
- 88% are more confident in their abilities
- 88% make better choices for themselves
The impact lasts a lifetime. Former Club kids, volunteers, and staff often tell us how their time at the Club shaped who they became and helped them reach their full potential.
Celebrate with us
On June 5th help us share the impact BGC Greater Halifax has in our community. Whether you’re a former member, a supporter, or a parent whose child attends one of our Clubs, we want to hear your story. Post on social media using #BGCClubDay and tag @BGCGHFX.
